BODY MUSIC study group with NATASHA MARTIN

BMSG works in trimesters in order to foster commitment and team work. The first trimester takes place from October - December , the second one is from January - March and the third is from April - June. In July, we are creating a tradition of shooting a body music video, an underrepresented art form in Greece (body music as screendance).

BMSG is a horizontal group that does not separate between levels of knowledge, age, expertise etc. Everyone is important in their own capacity in a body music setting. However, you will be requested to study to an extent to bring the group on a more or less equal level of knowledge.

Body Music is based on a pulsing approach which relies a lot on the various grouping of the single beat, a concept largely used in world music, i.e. indian rhythmology, ottoman usul music, west african polyrhythms, greek traiditonal music, indonesian kecak, and more. It is a way to learn music with the body or to use dance in order to approach music.

The Body Music Study Group is open to dancers, musicians, singers, actors, circus artists, teachers, community workers, bus drivers, plumber, and everyone in between!
